Exhibiting Homecrafts

To exhibit at the Paisley Fall Fair, you must become a member of the Paisley Fall Fair Agricultural Society. Membership costs $10. This includes the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting in January, a unique membership number valid for one year, eligibility to exhibit, and one free admission to the fair.

Once you're a member and ready to exhibit, pick up a copy of the Exhibitor Prize Book, which lists all available competitions. Each section includes rules for the specific competition, and we recommend also reading the Agricultural Society Rules & Regulations (see the tab on this page).

Exhibits must be brought to the Palace. The Palace will accept exhibits on Friday from 1:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. This helps spread out exhibitors and avoid large crowds at once.

Judging takes place on Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Before judging, you must fill out an Entry Form found in the middle of your Exhibitor Prize Book. The form should include your name, address, exhibitor number, and a list of all exhibits you're submitting. Bring this form to the Secretary-Treasurer, who will be at a table in the Palace.

You also need to put an Entry Tag on each exhibit. These can be picked up at Paisley Freshmart in August or up until fair day. The tag should include the class and section numbers, plus your name and address.

The best way to prepare is:

Pay for your membership and get your Exhibitor Number.
Prepare your exhibits on Friday and attach completed Entry Tags to each.
Complete the Entry Form.
Bring everything to the Palace on Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning.
Leave your Entry Form with the Secretary-Treasurer and place your exhibits in the proper spots, with help from committee chairpeople if needed. Exhibits will be judged and recorded on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, the Palace opens at 9:00 am for people to view the judged items. It’s an exciting time as you see how your entries compared to others. All entries must stay on display until 4:30 pm, when they must be removed for the BBQ Beef Supper setup.

Prize money or prizes will be awarded for your entries, and a cheque will be sent by the end of September. If you win over $20, $10 will be kept as your membership for the next year. You’ll receive a new Exhibitor Number and a prize book in May for the following year.

In order to exhibit at the Paisley Fall Fair, you must become a member of the Paisley Agricultural Society. Membership costs $10.00 and in becoming a member you are entitled to vote a the Annual General Meeting in January, receive a membership number specific to you for one year, are eligible to exhibit, and receive one free admission into the fair, on fair day. Once you have decided to exhibit, you should pick up a copy of the annual Exhibitor Prize Book which lists all of the competitions available to enter. At the beginning of the Field Crops section is a brief list of rules.

The Commercial Classes and Group B Field Crop Competition are samples to be brought to the fair for judging. You may bring your entries Friday 1:00-8:30pm or Saturday 8am to 12noon. Field crop judging will take place in the Palace but then all crops will be moved to the Ag Education Tent. Your entries should be picked up in the Ag Education tent at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon.

You are required to have completed an Entry Form, which is located in the middle of your Exhibitor Prize Book. You will need to list all of the exhibits you are leaving for judging, plus your name, address and exhibitor number completed on the form. This form is given to the Secretary-Treasurer, who will be sitting at a table in the Palace, waiting for you.

You are also required to put an Entry Tag on each entry that you are entering into competition. Entry Tags can be picked up at Paisley freshmart during the month of August, and right up until fair day. The tag needs to be completed with the class and section numbers, plus your name & address again.

The Group A Field Crop Competition requires that you call the Committee Chairperson to tell him you would like to enter your fields into the competition. Fall Wheat is judged in the field in mid to late July. Corn and Soybeans are judged one week prior to the fair.

For the Group A Field Crop Competition, you must also bring a sample to the fair of the judged field commodity. Follow the guidelines in the book and remember that an Entry Tag must be attached and and Entry Form Completed.

So the best and most efficient scenario of exhibiting is to have paid your membership. obtained an Exhibitor Number, prepared all your exhibits on Friday, attached a completed Entry Tag to each exhibit, and completed the Entry Form. Bring all of that to the Palace either Friday evening or Saturday morning. Leave the entry form with the Secretary-Treasurer, and place your entries in the proper place, as indicated on the tables. The committee chairperson will be available to help you find the exact place for your entry to be placed.

All entries will be judged and judging all recorded on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday the Palace will open at 9am for viewing of the judged items. This is an exciting time, as everyone locates their various exhibits and discovers how their entries were judged against other entries. All entries must stay on display until exactly 4:30pm when everyone removes them to take home. This is a bit of mass confusion for about 15 minutes, but it is imperative that everything be removed at this time, for set up of the BBQ Beef Supper to take place at 5:15pm in the Palace.

Exhibitor entries are awarded money or prizes and added up to create a cheque, which is distributed by the end of September. For those who win over $20.00 in prize money, $10.00 will be retained and applied as the following years membership number and you are now automatically a member for the following year. In May of the following year, a prize book and your new Exhibitor Number will be mailed or given to you, in hopes that you will again exhibit the following year.

Approved and Adopted by the Board of Directors

The membership fee for 2025 is $10.00 per individual, which includes one admission for Sunday and a prize book. Membership card must be presented at the gate for admission. Exhibitors competing at the fair must be members of the Society.
Next year’s membership fee of $10.00 will be retained for each exhibitor winning over $20.00 in prize money.
No membership fee is required for juniors (17 years old and younger). Competitors who are in secondary school or equivalent may compete in Open/Adult classes; but will need an Adult Membership to do so and all other rules & regulations of those respective divisions shall apply.
The Treasurer shall award prize money, in the form of a cheque or cash, on or before November 1st. The Society requests that all cheques be cashed by December 15.
The admission prices to the fairgrounds shall be regulated by the Board of Directors on a yearly basis.
The prizes offered are open for competition by all members unless otherwise stated.
Entries, in all classes, must be made on the entry forms provided and given to the Secretary, once exhibits have been placed or upon arrival on the grounds. Prizes cannot be awarded unless entry forms are fully completed, including address. All junior entrants must have their age listed on the top right hand corner of the entry form.
Securing of entry tags on exhibits and placement of exhibits in hall is the responsibility of the exhibitor. Judges may disregard any exhibits which have not been properly tagged.
The Board of Directors reserves the right to accept or reject exhibits.
All exhibits, except livestock, must be in place by 12 noon on Saturday. No exhibits may be removed before 4:30 pm on Sunday, unless authorized by the President; failure to comply may result in prize money being withheld.
All exhibits must be the property of the exhibitor, and classes of fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and garden produce must be the product of the present year, unless otherwise stated.
Only one entry will be allowed to an exhibitor in each section of any class. This rule does not apply to livestock classes, which allows two exhibits per section.
While Directors will take every precaution under the circumstances to secure safety of articles sent to the Fair, the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting. Should any article be accidentally damaged, lost or stolen, the Directors will give assistance in their power toward recovery, but will not make any payment toward the value thereof.
Any person who shall attempt to interfere with the judges while in the discharge of their duties, or afterwards, on the premises of the Society, shall forfeit the right to any prize money. Judges are requested to report any improper behavior to the Society President.
Upon discovery of any fraud, deception or dishonest practices, either in preparation, ownership or representation concerning an exhibited article, prize money may be withheld.
In the case of unfavorable weather, or other reasons causing the receipts to fall short of paying the expenses and prize money, a proportionate amount exclusive to membership, will be deducted from such prizes to enable the Directors to balance the accounts without loss to the Society.
The Society will take all reasonable precautions to avert accidents, but do not accept responsibility for personal injury or property loss and will not accept liability for damages.
All homecraft and needlecraft to be home manufactured and the work of the exhibitor. Group quilting is allowed.
All special prizes, gifts, and vouchers are to be picked up on Sunday from the Homecraft coordinator or committee chairperson.
If errors or omissions occur in this Prize Book, it is hoped that such will be excused.
Fees for rental spaces at the Fair to be paid in advance in order to reserve a space.
Mileage will be paid at $0.55 per kilometer round trip, on Board approval (ie: Judges).
All protests must be made in writing, stating the cause of the complaint or appeal, signed by complaintor, and accompanied by $50.00 and delivered to the Secretary on day of protest. The decision of the Directors will be final. If the complaintor is successful, the $50.00 will be returned.
Judging will be the responsibility of competent judges, whose decisions must in all cases be considered final, however, committee members may point out discrepancies pertaining to rules and regulations.
All livestock owners must have $2,000,000.00 liability insurance and complete the Exhibitor Agreement prior to exhibiting
Points system for specials is as follows: 1st—3 points, 2nd—2 points, 3rd—1 point
Be advised that the Society may publish the names of winning exhibitors.
